The Grenache for this wine comes from a small one-acre parcel of Scorched Earth Vineyard located in Dallesport, Washington. Located just a few miles east of the Columbia Gorge AVA, this vineyard is located on the banks of the Columbia River.
The Grenache achieves full ripeness from an abundance of day time sun, but also benefits from the strong winds from the gorge and low night time temperatures.
Picked in mid-October of 2014, the Grenache clusters came into the winery nearly perfect. Tight compact clusters full of acidity and loads of stony rock mineral flavors. A very simple process from here on… The ferments were gently foot stomped once a day for 30 days until the wine was pressed directly to barrel.
Aged in 3 times used French oak Burgundy barrels. Native yeast/malolactic. No fining/filtration. Bottled directly from barrel into bottle. 13.2% alcohol.
