The fruit for the 2014 Les Sous-Bois Pinot Gris is sourced from two small vineyards situated at 1400 feet elevation on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge AVA in Underwood, Washington.  The ambience is very “alpine”, reminding me of times spent in the Jura and Alsace regions of France.

The Pinot Gris in 2014 from Underwood came in a perfect acidity and ripeness.  After a very gentle press, the Pinot Gris juice was transferred to neutral French oak barrels where it aged for 8 months until bottling in the late spring of 2014.  There was no fining or filtration done to this wine so you will notice a slight haze in the wine.  We prefer our wines naked.  Nothing taken away, nothing added.

On the nose you will find very intense aromas of spice, pears, mineral and wet rock. The palate is very textured with layers of fresh stone fruits followed by a wave of fresh natural acidity.  The finish is bone dry and very long.
